(Text: Sun Qing;Mei Pengfei)Recently, following rigorous evaluation by the European Research Council on project content and applicant qualifications, Dr. Qing Sun from our Institute of Intelligent Welding Equipment and Manufacturing successfully secured funding from the Horizon Europe – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program with a perfect total score (100/100). The grant amount exceeds €200,000. This marks the first Marie Skłodowska-Curie Scholar cultivated independently by our Institute, following the recruitment of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Scholar and Researcher Gufei Zhang from the Institute of Infrared Thin Films and Crystals.
Dr. Qing Sun is one of the outstanding research talents recruited by the Institute in recent years. He focuses on research into flexible energy storage materials and devices, has led multiple research project funds from the EU, national, and provincial/municipal levels, and has published numerous papers as first/corresponding author in such high-impact journals as Advanced Materials and Energy & Environmental Science. Upon receiving the grant, Dr. Qing Sun will collaborate with foreign research institutions to conduct related research.
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are named after the renowned female scientist Marie Skłodowska-Curie, who twice won the Nobel Prize, and rank first among the three major European talent programs (the others being the German Humboldt Research Fellowship and the UK Newton International Fellowship), holding a prestigious reputation in international academia. As one of the EU's highest awards for individual research funding, the program aims to promote international collaborative research among outstanding global researchers, advance frontier international science and technology, and contribute to scientific and social progress. Open to applicants worldwide, it is known for high research standards, wide disciplinary coverage, substantial funding, and intense competition due to its difficulty.
The Institute has consistently adhered to the strategy of attracting talents with talents and actively built a Master + Team talent work system. To date, the Institute has recruited over 40 national and provincial-level talents, has been approved for a National Postdoctoral Research Station with over 50 postdoctoral fellows currently on staff, and has collectively received nearly 50 national-level project grants. The Institute has initially formed a high-quality, internationalized talent team with a reasonable hierarchical structure, distinct Master + Team characteristics, and a focus on new quality productive forces.
The approval of this project under Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program is a strong testament to the academic excellence and international competitiveness of our researchers. In the future, the Institute will continue to encourage and support young researchers to actively apply for high-level research projects, promote academic innovation and technological progress, and make new and greater contributions to assisting the local region in building a national innovation highland and an important talent center, and empowering high-quality regional socio economic development.
